reminder: shop your closet!

Spring flowers

Spring is slowly but surely coming to Atlanta. Finally!

With the start of the new season comes the desire to new clothes. This is inevitable for me - every single season I have the same urge - to shop!

But may I remind you, and myself, that before we run out to buy yet another _________(insert article of clothing that you have the tendency to purchase again and again), to shop your closet. Look through all those clothes, who have been stored away so long and who are aching to be worn. (I find that it helps me to wash and iron these stored goodies immediately, so that they look ready to wear. This helps fight off the temptation to go out and spend.)

And after you’ve thoroughly shopped your closet, by all means, make a list of what you really need and go get it.  (Another hint: keep that list in your wallet at all times, so when you pull out your credit card to buy your twentieth white button down, you’ll remember that you actually came for a new pair of wedges.)

Happy spring!

Clock

Feel thankful for the fall back.

The past few weeks have been a little rough. I won’t bore you with the details, but to summarize, there have been many, many nights when I haven’t felt like whipping up a delicious dinner or cutting coupons or hunting for the absolute best deal.

And that’s okay. There are times its okay, even better, to not put your focus on saving money, but on getting through. And that’s when it’s nice to have the budget to fall back on, and know that if you need to spend an extra few dollars on eating out or fresh flowers to cheer you up, it’s all good.

And with that said, I’m back in action. Delightful deals are on the way . . .

cheaper than diamonds

April 7, 2009

I am love, love, loving these fabulous ice cube trays. (Despite many desperate attempts, I cannot get an image to load. So run, don’t walk, to check out that link.)
Of course CB2 (Crate and Barrell’s brilliant brainchild) would offer something so inexpensive and so delightful.
At $6.95, this is an approved living large purchase.

the two-bedroom craving

April 3, 2009

The hubby and I have been married almost two years (wahoo!).  In those two years, we’ve always lived in a one-bed/one-bath apartment.  And in those two years, there have been more than a few days when I’ve thought, “Must. Move. Now.”
Since the day we got married, I’ve been craving a two bed/two bath apartment. So [...]
